Coffee Kids creates economic opportunities for young farmers. Smallholder coffee farmers face a variety of challenges such as changing climate, an inconsistent cash flow, an erratic coffee market, and inadequate access to land to produce enough to support a family. The result is that the next generation is largely deciding that staying on the farm isn’t worth their time.
Since Coffee Kids’ inception in 1988, we have partnered with over 200,000 coffee-farming families in over 400 communities.
Coffee Kids started operating as a program of Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung, North America in 2015. Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung North America is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which has over 250 staff within its network in countries throughout Latin America, Africa, and Asia, providing deep and lasting support to coffee farmers and farmer organizations, many of which have worked previously with Coffee Kids. Coffee Kids still relies on the generous support of its donor community for program funding, and this funding can now go even further in reaching farming communities with access to the network of Hanns R. Neumann Stiftung North America.
