Webinar offers organic know-how
Posted: Jan 25, 2010
The National Coffee Association’s webinar series continues this week with a one-hour class on certification and marketing. From 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. EST Wednesday, Gwendolyn Wyard of Oregon Tilth will present “Stop the Organic Confusion! What Roasters Need to Know to Claim Organic.”
The webinar is being presented in response to a USDA report that complaints to the company’s offices have spiked regarding coffee being marketed as organic when it does not meet the official standards. The session with organic inspector Wyard will clarify the procedures, regulations and pitfalls around organic certification and marketing, and will end with a question-and-answer session.
The session is priced at $59 for NCA members, $79 for members of SCAA, NAMA, CAC or OTA and $99 for nonmembers. For more information or to register, go to ncausa.org.
