Strada's a must-have! (Until the next must-have comes out)

It’s time to meet the current cool-coffee-thing of the moment. Once upon a time it was the Clover. Last year it was the Slayer. Now the object of everyone’s espresso affection is the Strada machine from La Marzocco. The machine was first unveiled earlier this month in New York City, and now the first user reviews are making their way onto the Web waves, including one recently on gadget blog Gizmodo.
As the Gizmodo post makes clear, the Strada’s major selling point is its pressure profiling setup, which like the Slayer, allows a barista to adjust extraction pressure as the shot is being pulled. Chances are, the vast majority of shops aren’t in dire need of this kind of technology, but when coffee is the love of your life, it’s tough to resist the urge to tinker with it in any way possible.
According Gizmodo, the machine will be rolling out in the fall. Lay out the big bucks if it’s calling you to do so. But maybe keep a few dollars in the bank so you can afford whatever latest-and-greatest comes into the coffee world next. Or you could also, you know, use the money to pay off your business debt.
