Starbucks Introduces Pour-Over Brewing
Posted: Feb 11, 2010
Goodbye, Clover—hello, pour-over. The Seattle Times’ “Coffee City” blog reports Starbucks is set to roll out the increasingly popular individual-cup preparation method in stores beginning next month. The post says the jolly green coffee giant has been testing the concept in shops in Colorado for the past year, and the setups won’t be as attention grabbing as the sleek, handcrafted drip bars used at a variety of independent shops around the country. “For Starbucks, the pour-over will be about the efficiency of making a quick single cup of coffee rather than the theater of the pour,” the blog post states.
For more on the pour-over trend in specialty coffee, see the “Nine Bars” section of the November ’09 Fresh Cup, which breaks down how a number of different shops fold the preparation method into their own operations.
